Meet The Team

Our Team

Park Avenue LASEK combines the traditional values of a small private practice with the most innovative medical advances in ophthalmology. At Park Avenue LASEK our staff is here to make your experience as smooth and pleasant as possible throughout every stage of your process. Ask us anything about your procedure, we are here as a resource for you!

Dr. Chynn and Park Avenue LASEK have a unique philosophy, which is based on openness, honesty, and mutual benefit.

Dr. Chynn and Park Avenue LASEK are a 100% non-cutting, non-invasive laser vision correction centre in New York City.

We invite people in to watch live surgery, and invite patients to freely share their experience with other patients. We don’t even monitor this interaction (after we get the patient’s permission), because we want both parties to be able to interact freely. This allows the customer to get it “straight from the horse’s mouth.”

Other laser centers typically segregate their preop and postop patients, because they don’t want any possibility for a postop who is not perfectly happy speaking to potential customer.

Dr. Chynn actually encourages this interaction, as he wants people to have “realistic expectations” (in terms of recovery time, etc.) so we can meet or exceed them. In terms of mutual benefit, we operate on the “pay it forward” philosophy. Our patients are almost always to help support or “coach” a potential patient, as they have often had that assistance themselves!

Dr Chynn

Emil Chynn, MD, MBA, FACS Medical Director

Dr. Chynn is the most experienced & well-known LASEK surgeon in the US, has performed more LASEKs than any other surgeon in the US, and has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, USA Today, ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, Bravo, Howard Stern and Discovery Channel.

Dr. Chynn graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College and received his MD from Columbia University, the #1 medical school in NY. He completed his residency in ophthalmology in 1996 at Harvard and his fellowship in Corneal Transplantation & Refractive Surgery at Emory University. He then received his MBA from NYU with Beta Gamma Sigma honors. Dr. Chynn is also a member of MENSA, the organization that certifies geniuses with an IQ above 150. Dr. Chynn was on the teaching faculty of both Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital and New York Eye & Ear Infirmary, ranked Top Specialty Eye Hospitals by US News & World Report.

Dr. Chynn is the only eye surgeon in the US who had LASIK in 1 eye and LASEK in the other, and who has performed over 5,000 LASIKs & 25,000 LASEKs, so is uniquely qualified to explain why LASEK is superior. He was the 1st eye doctor in New York to get LASIK (in 1999), but suffered from dry eyes & night glare in that left eye. This motivated him to upgrade his practice from this older cutting procedure to the newer, safer, better LASEK procedure. He then LASEK’d his own right eye to demonstrate to the world how much safer and better LASEK is than LASIK, and has no dry eyes or night glare in his LASEK eye!

Constantin Poselski was a photographer and videographer when he came to Park Avenue LASEK (PAL) in 2017 as a patient. After managing their YouTube channel for two years, Constantin had his EPI-LASEK in 2019 and now sees 20/15, which is better than 20/20! He was so happy that he referred his only brother Michael for LASEK in 2022, who is now also a member of the “Better than 20/20 Club” 😊

Because Constantin is the most empathetic member of our staff (even though most of the staff also had LASEK themselves), Dr. Chynn decided to make him “Patient Coordinator.” As Patient Coordinator, he’s responsible for making sure your process is smooth through the preoperative, operative, and postoperative stages.

Constantin speaks Russian because he was born in Russia. He is planning to apply for a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Columbia University. His passion is helping patients achieve the Miracle of Seeing Perfectly without glasses or contacts. He recently married his girlfriend from Ukraine and brought her to the US to begin a new life in America.

Britney is a New York Native who graduated with a Bachelor’s in Individualized Study in the pre-medical track from New York University (NYU). In 2019, she came to Park Avenue LASEK after shopping around for laser vision correction and decided to get LASEK herself. After seeing better than a “perfect” 20/20, she referred both her brother & mother to Dr. Chynn for their own LASEKs.

Britney has worked at Park Avenue LASEK as both Front Desk Manager and ophthalmic technician, and now serves as the Surgical Coordinator. She can also helpfully answer all patient questions from a fellow patient’s point of view.

Britney plans on attending medical school next year. In her free time, she has her own small business baking custom cakes for weddings, birthdays & events. She is also a Seventh Day Adventist and is active in her church.
