High Hyperopia Q&A

Q by D. (+7.25):

In 2018, I was referred by a local lasik specialist/ophthalmologist here in Salt Lake City, Utah at Standard Optical to a doctor in Canada for corrective eye surgery due to potential limitations and procedures that could be done here in the United States based on U.S. FDA regulations.
On August 18th 2022, my primary doctor from the Moran Eye institute in Utah first suggested a Lasik consultation at Hoopes Vision in Draper, Utah  and was told I was not a candidate for either lasik or lens implant.* (severe hyperopia being the main) I was told to return in 3 to 5 years as technology could improve.
At that point, I went with the referral from 2018 for the ophthalmologist in Canada; Dr. John Blaylock however was told it wasn’t an option due to the severe hyperopia.
I’ve messaged other institutions like Mass Eye & Ear with similar results stating “high hyperopia” and receiving suggestions like “an evaluation for hyperopic ICL in Canada.”
I would like to know if and what potential options exist for correcting my vision. I have attached the medical summary from Hoopes VIsion regarding any tests that were done on August 18th 2022 as well as a note summary from an optometrist at Moran Eye Center from December 2021.

Answer by Dr. Chynn:

I have lasered about 100 people with a + Rx as high, or higher than yours, with some astigmatism, so i have successfully done this MANY times.
There are some things we have to go over:
Please call my office and schedule a remote consultation.
At that time we will buddy you up with a patient I lasered with a similar prescription so you can talk to that person directly. It is a very great service we offer that no other center in the USA does.
That is how confident we are in our results, that we don’t have to only tell ourselves, you can hear it directly from another similar patient.

I also want you to have reasonable expectations is why we enable this.

Thanks.
