Dr. Chynn was an undergraduate at Dartmouth College and attended medical school at Columbia University’s College of Physicians & Surgeons (typically ranked the #1 medical school in New York State). He completed his residency at the world-famous Harvard University’s Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary, where he was on the teaching faculty of Harvard Medical School.
After Harvard, Dr. Chynn could have gone out and performed refractive surgery (like many doctors in NYC who never completed a fellowship). Instead, he chose to spend an additional year completing a full fellowship in Corneal Transplantation & Refractive Surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, under George Waring, MD, who introduced RK and LASIK to the US.

Why Patients Choose LASEK & LASIK Eye Surgery NYC
A little background: I've had issues with my eyesight since birth. I have astigmatism, ocular albinism, nystagmus, and a very high prescription. Ever since I can remember, my optometrists and opthomoligists always told me I'd never be a candidate for LASIK.Then on a whim, I Googled LASIK, just to see if it had advanced since I last checked, and there was the result for Park Avenue LASEK. I watched the videos and started following their Instagram posts. One day, I saw someone who had the EXACT same issues as I did who had LASEK done successfully, and the rest is history.I had my procedure done on 1/23, so I'm a month out and doing great! I can see just as well as I could with glasses and my sight is steadily improving. Dr Chynn and his staff are all amazing. Directions for next steps were ALWAYS provided and stressed upon. Honestly, if you don't follow the directions, it's your own fault, because they go over them CONSTANTLY, which was truly appreciated. I think I only had a total of 4 questions throughout the entire process.If you're on the fence, jump down. At least look into it, because if my eyes could be improved, yours most likely can as well.THANK YOU, Dr Chynn and staff. This was so worth it! My only regret is I never got to meet the pup.

Thank you to Dr. Emil Chynn and his team at Park Ave LASEK!I initially stumbled upon Park Ave LASEK because I wanted to correct my vision. Laser eye surgery has always been something I wanted to do for myself since my vision was beyond legally blind (-9.00 in both eyes with astigmatism). I was struggling a lot with my impaired vision prior to LASEK surgery. I always had to worry about glasses or contact lens & solution… Getting LASEK eye vision correction turned my life around for the better. I can confirm that this is one of the best things I have ever invested in & done for myself. Now that my vision is corrected, I can focus on activities that bring me joy without having to worry about my impaired vision.. I was hesitant about laser eye surgery beforehand (due to personal concerns surrounding surgery) but after doing extensive research and speaking with the team, I knew this was the Doctor, clinic, and procedure for me. LASEK is the newer and safer procedure. Tarek matched me with a LASEK package & answered any questions I had related to surgery and payment. The team was detailed in explaining what steps I had to follow the few days prior to the LASEK operation. The day of the surgery came around and I was nervous going in. The comfort package helped calm my nerves. The LASEK surgery itself was not as scary or painful as had I thought it would be. Had I known, I would not have been scared at all. I only knew the operation was basically painless after the surgery was completed. Dr. Emil Chynn’s instructions were very clear and the operation went smoothly for me. Every time I left Park Ave LASEK, I left with paper instructions of what I should do until the next scheduled check up. The paper instructions were clear and if I had any questions, Park Ave LASEK’s WhatsApp group (for each patient) was readily available to assist me(throughout the ENTIRE process). The immediate healing process took 4-5 days for me. The discomfort I felt during the healing process was comparable to the discomfort of contact lens. It was not unbearable.. that is how I would describe it. If you are a regular contact lens wearer, I think you would understand the sensation. It felt like the slight discomfort of a contact lens (which was the bandage contact lens (BCL) for recovery). The eyedrops prescribed and medication that I took helped aid in my speedy recovery post operation. Post operation, I had to come in a few times due to my prescription being on the higher end. This was to ensure that everything was OK and going well with my eyes. Rest assured, I always left the clinic with clear paper instructions. I am glad Park Ave LASEK helped me with my vision recovery and needs.Thank you team for being patient, thorough, and meticulous with my LASEK eye surgery process.Thank you Tarek, Balaji, Karen, and Dr. Tetyana Dovzhuk, and Paarth for being patient with me & answering all the questions I had! I’m getting lasek eye surgery tomorrow at Park Avenue Lasek! Although I’m a little nervous, I know without a doubt that I’m in good hands, which means a lot to me as I go into something like this. The care and thoroughness that Dr. Chynn and team have put in to making sure I have the best possible experience has been so impressive. My eyes are a special case (extreme prescription + neovascularization); this makes wearing glasses or contacts a problem. I trust that the end result of lasek will be great for me and I’m really looking forward to it. I am also beyond thrilled to have even found this place!!! I am not eligible for lasik, so what would I have done for the rest of my life? Feeling nervous and excited and grateful. Great experience, Dr Chynn & his Front Desk Manager Balu were both very friendly and efficient: I got a new Rx for both glasses & contacts in 5 minutes, Dr C detected astigmatism in my left eye that no doctor had ever noticed, as well as my current glasses being too strong so they caused headache at the end of the day when on the computer for a long period of time. They also ordered my contacts from 800-contacts without any markup so I saved time😅

I had my LASEK 6 months ago & can say it took ONE MINUTE & was TOTALLY PAINLESS😀They also are the only Center that accepts medical insurance; they took mine & gave me $500 off! Now I’m seeing a perfect 20/20 without glasses or contacts. It was also basically free, because they’re accepting the same dollar amount that I was wasting on glasses, contacts & solutions—for 5 years. After that I’ll start saving $!;)

Had LASEK 10 years ago. Did one eye for distance and one eye for reading. I came back to get enhanced in my right eye for reading because I got older and Dr Chynn helped my vision in my right eye for reading. Very happy outcome and result!

I had my LASIK procedure performed by Dr. Chynn. He is an excellent doctor, and I admire his organized work style. While he can be quite strict at times, it’s essential for the seriousness of the procedure; any mistakes could lead to permanent vision loss. What I appreciate about his approach is the use of a WhatsApp group chat. If any issues arise, he promptly responds. I’ll kept you updated while my vision keeps improving.

I had my Lasek performed when it was called IWANT2020. That's HOW LONG ago it was and they gave me a VHS tape. Yes, a VHS tape for the operation. ALL I remembered was a few zappings for a few seconds and it was done. TODAY, my visions are AS GOOD AS EVER. I owe it to Dr. Chynn. I can recommend Dr. Chynn WITHOUT ANY RESERVATION. How much are your eyes worth to you?!! For me, you can't put a price on it. You think a World Class Eye Surgeon is easy to come by? WRONG!

Dr. Chynn is a true genius at what he does. He did my first Lasek procedure in 2018. Because I have a thin cornea, regular lasik wasn't an option for me. Dr Chynn corrected my vision from -9.00 to 20/20! I didn't have any complications and healed perfectly. It was truly a medical miracle! Because I was quite young when I got it done my nearsightedness came back so I came right back to Dr. Chynn for my second procedure last week. As with the first, it went smoothly and his staff are all so incredibly nice and attentive. They make themselves available 24/7 via WhatsApp so that I can text them any questions I have. They're all very knowledgeable and well trained by Dr, Chynn.One word of caution: Dr Chynn is not for the faint of heart. He is very stern and strict about everyone following protocol so don't expect to be coddled. He's not a participation trophy / orange slices kinda guy. He's very direct which can seem a little alarming at first but just understand that he expects his staff to operate only at the highest standards. Come here if you want to be treated by a world class surgeon and get great results!

Dr Chynn, or “Professor Chynn” as the staff refers to him is so good at what he does that he has trained hundreds of other doctors who have worked under him during his career, and it shows. I met with Dr D and she was amazing. She said when she first met Dr Chynn years ago she was skeptical that he could correct extreme prescriptions like -13 or complex conditions like amblyopia, ocular albinism, keratoconus, and nystagmus, but he showed her how he does it. She’s an MD/PhD surgeon and a retina specialist so the fact that she learned anything new after all of those accolades really speaks to how knowledgeable “the professor” truly is!Dr Chynn and Dr D remind me of a paternal and a maternal figure. Dr Chynn is tough because he wants the best outcomes for his patients and he is NOT SHY about correcting the staff, the doctors, or the patients. He only cares about excellent results and I love that about him. Dr D is kind because she connects with the patients on an emotional level and which really complements Dr Chynn in a perfect blendAnd with their powers combined, I’m now 20/15. One of my favorite things about Park Avenue LASEK is they put you in touch with someone who already had their LASEK with a prescription just like my own, AND they had the same job so I felt confident knowing they had my way of life in mind when correcting my visionI didnt think I would be able to afford the surgery and felt stuck in my glasses. Luckily, I was able to finance the whole thing and it only cost about $3/day! I felt great knowing I would save tens of thousands of dollars on glasses, lifetime!Dr Chynn is TOUGH and that’s the best thing I could ask for. He’s a perfectionist and that’s exactly how he gets perfect results. He treated me like his own son and was a great “father figure” when it came to telling me how to perform during the surgery and how to take my meds during post care. I couldn’t be happier with the results. I’m better than 20/20 and can’t remember the last time I saw this well. Maybe neverIf you’re thinking about getting this done, get it done asap. I was looking into lasik and happened across LASEK, a safer, non-cutting procedure. No dry eyes, no halos, no night glare, no flap. I CHOSE Dr.chynn and Park avenue LASEK because he has done the procedure on his own eyes and he looked into why I have dry eyes. After Lasek, I’m glad that I can see everything without glasses or contactsI have dry eyes, -5.25 and -7.25

I made the decision to do the LASEK procedure after wearing glasses for 21 years. It was a big decision but one I knew I needed and wanted to get it done at a place that had great reviews.I was told by a relative who had lasik done years ago that it was worth it. So I came to Dr. Chynn and learned about what he does now, Lasek and what this type of procedure involves.I was educated on the procedure, pre-op steps and post-op steps.As I did the procedure, I was grateful I had the comfort package as it helped my anxieties. The entire experience was very cool and painless. Recovery was over a few days and time went by fast as your eyes and body will just want to keep sleeping.No regrets about this surgery because now I’ll be able to learn how to swim without the fear of not seeing clearly!

From 20/800(-6.75) to 20/15 vision in one week after my surgery! As a medical student I was very hesitant to get lasik done knowing the complications such as severe dry eye and night glares. Once I heard about the different surgery lasek and how this prevents those complications my interest was peaked. Dr Chynn is an incredible surgeon and I wouldn’t trust my eyes with anyone else.

I was a bad candidate for LASIK because I had a very extreme prescription. I met with Dr Chynn and his team and because they do a zero-cutting LASEK procedure it is not only safer but allows anyone who has high prescriptions/very bad vision to successfully correct their vision.
