Hello,
My name is Christian,
I was hoping to find out if your practice has done any work to remove or reduce corneal scars caused by ulcers due to extended contact wear / abuse.
Kindly let me know.
Thank you,
Christian
Dear Christian,
I have removed THOUSANDS of corneal scars, and used to do this by PTK (you can google it), but when this is done, you wind up with no scar but the same prescription you had initially–or worse:(
About a decade ago, I switched my technique, and now instead of performing a PTK, I perform a LASEK, which removes the scar AND ALSO SIMULTANEOUSLY REMOVES YOUR PRESCRIPTION
The BEST thing about this is that if you have good medical insurance that we accept with a low deductible, it will PAY for the PTK, as a LASEK is essentially a PTK, but with the laser programmed to also remove your prescription. Most will pay about $1500 for PTK, so that would come directly off your price (you’d have to pay about another $500-$1000 for that eye. Then you’d have to decide what to do about your other eye (most people of course decide to get their Rx removed from that eye, as well)
Please CALL my office to discuss this further and book either your in-person or remote “SECOND OPINION” — it’s not a “free consultation” because you have a scar in your eye
Thanks and talk soon; when you call, please ask if I’m in, because if I am, I will happy to speak to you BRIEFLY about this, before you come in
Yours,
