The Question:
Hi,Can you provide a quote for SMILE corrective surgery? My contact lens prescription is as follows:
___ | Sph | Cyl | Axis
OD | -5.5 | -1.25 | 020
OS | -6.00 | -0.75 | 180I currently have a procedure scheduled with another provider and am looking for a competitive price.

The reason I am choosing your inquiry to post on our blog (don’t worry, we are redacting all identifying information, so there’s no HIPAA violation) is that you are the TENTH patient I have seen in 10 weeks who was TOLD that he’s a “great” candidate for SMILE, when the TRUTH is that SMILE CANNOT CORRECT ASTIGMATISM.
YOU have SIGNIFICANT astigmatism in your right eye (and some in your left eye as well) so after SMILE, although your left eye would probably be 20/20, your right eye COULD NOT be that, because you’d STILL HAVE YOUR ASTIGMATISM, so that eye would only be 20/25 or 20/30.
I am CONCERNED that there is a doctor in NYC who is PUSHING SMILE FOR ECONOMIC REASONS and not being HONEST about WHICH procedure is BEST for the PATIENTS.
I, on the other hand, wish to retire in the next 2-3 years, so I do NOT CARE AT ALL if I perform ANY more procedures, I have ZERO desire for more money (I am “past money”).
So PLEASE do yourself a favor and call my office for a FREE CONSULTATION and reference this email (my staff are cc’d) and say you want to come in when I am in so we can speak DIRECTLY.
It’s also not smart to shop by price, you should want to go to the MOST EXPENSIVE NOT THE CHEAPEST SURGEON, but that’s another matter.
SEE you soon!
Yours,
