The Question:
Hello Dr. Chynn,
I recently went in for a consultation for Lasik surgery and was informed that I did not qualify for such procedure due to my corneal thickness. If I have corneas that are 447 and 456 microns thick, would I still be a good candidate for Lasek?
Thanks in advance!
Good news, I helped INVENT LASEK when I was at HARVARD so I could SAFELY TREAT PATIENTS WITH THIN CORNEA WHO CANNOT GET LASIK
Please do EXACTLY the following:
- visit my website below and look at the section about LASEK vs LASIK
- there’s supposed to be a drawing explaining how it’s safe to do a LASEK in someone with your thickness (depending on your Rx) but not LASIK, but I think that might have dropped off by mistake — if it’s not there, please remind me to do this diagram for you NEATLY when you’re in the office, and then we will PDF it to my webmaster to upload
- please also visit the section about CXL for people with very thin corneas (under 500 like you) and how I can add that to our LASEK procedure to make your cornea stronger and safer, if this isn’t sufficiently clear I will explain this in person, but we will shoot a video of this and then post it on our website (you don’t have to be in the video if you don’t want, you can just ask the questions “off camera”
- please call my office and make your appointment for a SECOND OPINION FOR THIN CORNEA, it’s supposed to be $500, but if you don’t have good medical insurance we will reduce this to $300 for your helping w items 2 & 3 above (eg you get $100 per item)
Sounds Good?
Please also remind my staff to read this email and you can’t come in when I’m not in, as this is too complex for my staff to handle by themselves And please remind my staff on arrival that you want to be buddied up w another patient we did LASEK + CXL on, we’re the ONLY center in NY NJ CT or PA who lets you do this!
SEE you soon!:)
Yours,
